This is my newest top-of-the-line phono preamp. Based on the original award-winning all-tube Model 1000, the new Model 2200 uses Hybrid Mu-Stage voltage amplifiers for a new level of resolution and detail. This gain block, first published by Mr. Alan Kimmel over three decades ago, uses a vacuum tube triode for voltage gain loaded by a FET current source/voltage follower for ultra low distortion and exceptional power supply rejection. The result? My quietest, clearest-sounding phono preamp yet, with the same highly musical quality of the original.
